After two years and counting, DraftKings will finally be opening up a retail sportsbook at the Bay Mills Resort and Casino in Brimley, according to a press release from the casino.
Opening June 22, the sportsbook — which is temporary, with the permanent DraftKings sportsbook set to open sometime during the NFL season — will give bettors a taste of what’s to come. Featuring all the hallmarks of a typical sportsbook, including an over-the-counter ticket cage and a half-dozen self-service betting kiosks, Bay Mills customers will finally have their retail sportsbook up and in action.
The permanent sportsbook will feature even more kiosks and a larger ticket window, in addition to a large video wall and odds board.
“We are excited about our new partnership with DraftKings,” Bryan Newland, tribal chairman for the Bay Mills Indian Community, said when the deal was first announced in 2020. “Expanding on what entertainment options we can offer at Michigan’s longest operating gaming facility is always our goal. Our new on-site DraftKings Sportsbook will be one more great reason for Michiganders to vacation with us in the Upper Peninsula.”
Once open, this will bring the number of retail sportsbooks in Michigan to 18, along with the 15 online sportsbooks.
