It’s a full house — at least for the time being — as Eagle Casino and Sports, the online casino and sportsbook for the Saginaw Chippewa tribe’s gaming arm, has launched and is live in Michigan.
And with that, Michigan is operating at full capacity in the online gaming world for the first time since launch on Jan. 22, 2021.
“Michigan now has a full complement of 15 internet gaming and sports betting providers with the authorization of Eagle Casino and Sports,” Henry Williams, the executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, said in a press release. “All of Michigan’s federally recognized tribes are offering internet gaming and sports betting. I congratulate the Saginaw Chippewa tribe as they expand their gaming offerings.”
News out of Michigan – Soaring Eagle Gaming authorized as the state’s 15th iGaming, sports betting operator.
Will operate under Soaring Eagle Casino and Sports, with $GAN serving as the platform provider.

Back in 2021, 10 operators went live on day one, and by law, the online licenses in the state are only available to the state’s commercial and tribal casinos.
The other sportsbooks and casinos operating in Michigan are FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, Barstool, PointsBet, BetRivers, FOX Bet, WynnBet, Firekeepers, Parx, TwinSpires, Golden Nugget, and Four Winds.
Good while it lasts
While the state is now operating at capacity, it may not be for long.
TwinSpires announced plans to shut down at some point in the next few months, and it’s unclear what its partner, the Hannahville Indian Community, will seek to do with its skin. There are numerous sportsbooks operating elsewhere but still without a Michigan partner, though the Hannahville tribe might also decide to go it alone like Soaring Eagle, Firekeepers, and Four Winds.
With Churchill Downs announcing it will withdraw #TwinSpires from online sportsbook and casino play, question becomes who will replace it.

Additionally, DraftKings is expected to finalize its purchase of Golden Nugget in the near future, and it’s not known what the company will do with the Golden Nugget sportsbook, which has been a laggard in Michigan since launch.
